Indiana Jones DVDs Ranked #19 on UGO
December 31st, 2004 | Posted by Aaron

UGO is running a special on the Top 50 DVDs of All-Time.  Coming in at number one was The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (can't blame them for that) but what DVD list would be complete without Indiana Jones?  None that I can think of, and for UGO's top 50 DVDs of all time, the Indiana Jones DVD Collection ranks in at #19.  Not too bad given all the other DVDs Indy had to compete with.

Check out UGO.com to read more and to view the entire list.

Steven Spielberg to Direct Transformers Movie
December 30th, 2004 | Posted by Aaron

Eddie Mishan found an interesting article from New Kerala from December 28th which reported that Steven Spielberg will be directing a live-action version of Transformers:

"According to The Advertiser, the 'Jaws' director has announced that he will follow next year's 'The War of the Worlds' with a live-action tale of the mechanical heroes who disguise themselves as cars, trucks and jets."

While this is certainly good news for Transformers fans, the obvious question arises: will this affect the production of Indiana Jones 4?  Of course there's no way to know for sure, but there are potentials for delays with Spielberg being busy with Transformers next year along with Harrison Ford staring in The Battle for Falluja.  Let's just hope Mr. Spielberg and Mr. Ford haven't gotten too carried away and have left room in their schedules for Indy 4.

Here's hoping for the best, and as always stay tuned for the latest!

Harrison Ford Leads The Battle for Falluja
December 16th, 2004 | Posted by Aaron

Guardian Unlimited reported that Harrison Ford has been cast in the upcoming film, The Battle for Falluja.  The film is based on the book, No True Glory: The Battle for Falluja by Bing West which isn't even finished:

"The movie and book take as their starting point the killing of four civilian contractors in Falluja and the ensuing decision to order an assault on the city by US marines. That first assault, which was abruptly stopped by the White House, was led by General Jim Mattis, who will be played by Ford.

Six months later, shortly after the US presidential election, the marines attacked Falluja for a second time, successfully occupying the city. Almost 80 US marines were killed in the two assaults, while some sources have estimated that 800 Iraqis and insurgents died in the April assault on the city and a further 1,000 in November."

Who better to lead a marine assault than Indiana Jones himself?  Now as cool as this sound, there may be a downside.  Is it possible that Ford signing onto another film may delay the production of Indiana Jones 4?  If we're lucky, no.  I have a good feeling that once the script is complete and every one is ready to start filming, Ford will make room for Indy 4.  But anything can happen, so hope for the best and be prepared for the worst!  Stay tuned for the latest!

Thanks to Eddie for the news!

Frank Marshall Comments on Indiana Jones 4
December 11th, 2004 | Posted by Aaron

Dark Horizons posted a summary of a question and answer session with producer Frank Marshall about his new film, The Bourne Ultimatum.  In the Q&A, Marshall "was adamant that Indiana Jones 4 would happen."  No exact quotes, but that's the story.

It's very reassuring to know that everyone involved is very excited and sure that Indiana Jones 4 will happen.  It's only a matter of time, stay tuned!

Thanks to Eddie for the tip!

More on Connery's Involvement with Indy IV
December 11th, 2004 | Posted by Aaron

Scotsman.com spoke with Sir Sean Connery about rumors that he may be retiring from acting soon.  Connery debunked the idea that he was done with filmmaking forever and here's what he had to say:

"I always said I would never write my own biography and now I am in the process of doing it, I realise why I said it. It is much more difficult than I expected."  And about his acting career, Connery said, "If I get an offer I cannot refuse, I’ll do it."

I also received an email from Mark informing me that Sky News in the UK talked with Harrison Ford this week about Indiana Jones 4.  Ford reiterated that Indy 4 would definitely happen but when asked about Sean Connery's role in the fourth film, Ford said that he's almost positive Connery will not be in Indy IV since he has retired from movies, but as Connery said, he has not quite for good.

Looks like an interesting turn of events here forks.  Rumors about Connery's retirement came about back in October, but details were sketchy.  Now we can put the rumor to rest thanks to the man himself.  As far as Connery returning for a fourth Indiana Jones film, it's all up to Spielberg and Lucas to make him an offer he cannot refuse.  Stay tuned!

Thanks to Eddie and Mark for the news!

TIE.c Exclusive: Harrison Ford Talks Indy IV!
December 3rd, 2004 | Posted by Eddie Mishan

Our friends over at IESB.net have given us an amazing Indiana Jones 4 scoop!  IESB.net was in attendance for a special event for Hotel Rwanda to benefit Amnesty International which was hosted by Harrison Ford and Angelina Jolie.  The many stars in attendance for the event included Matt Damon, Samuel L. Jackson, Eric Idle, Halley Berry and Wyclef Jean.

While Harrison Ford was not on the red carpet as expected, IESB.net was able to obtain an exclusive interview with Mr. Ford after the event.  I was also fortunate enough to send in some questions about Indiana Jones 4 to be included with IESB.net's interview and here is what Harrison Ford had to say:

IESB.net: Is Indy 4 still going to be made?
Ford: "No doubt about it."

IESB.net: George has always mentioned that this is his version of a Bond story. Do you think that a younger version of Indy will ever be recast for future feature films?
Ford:
"No problem with a younger actor taking on Indiana Jones, but Indy IV is mine."

IESB.net: Will you be doing your own stunts for Indiana Jones 4?
Ford:
"At least some of them."

IESB: Are you happy with the script?
Ford:
"I hear that George Lucas is happy with the way the new draft is turning out."

Harrison Ford is optimistic about Indiana Jones 4 and the new script which is always a good sign.  Ford seemed very sure about the film and we now know that Lucas is happy with the script so things are looking a lot better than last time!  Ford's reference to a younger actor to play Indy in future films was also very interesting, does this mean there are more sequels in the works?  Only time will tell.  In the mean time, stay tuned to The Indy Experience.com for the latest on Indiana Jones IV!

We wish to extend a very big thanks to IESB.net for the exclusive!

Indiana Jones Trilogy on HD-DVD?
December 3rd, 2004 | Posted by Aaron

Could Indy fans be buying the Indiana Jones DVDs... again?  Well, with recent technological advancements, specifically in the field of HD-DVDs (High Definition DVDs), we could be seeing a re-release of many Spielberg classics including the Indiana Jones Trilogy.  This all comes from an article in Variety which you can read on Yahoo! News.  Two technologies have emerged recently, that of Blu-ray technology and HD-DVD.  This will all sound very familiar to those old enough to remember the bloody VHS vs. Beta wars of the 1980s.  It looks as though Universal, Warner Brothers and Paramount will be backing the HD-DVDs over the Blu-ray technology.

It is safe to say that with Paramount adopting the HD-DVD technology, we can expect to see the Indiana Jones DVDs re-released with the new HD-DVD format.  So how will this benefit Indy fans?  Well, if you've ever seen a film High Definition television you can only imagine how good Indy would look in Hi-Def!  And even though this is new technology, we can expect to see the HD-DVDs coming to stores as well as the players sometime in the fourth-quarter of next year.  But that does not necessarily mean the Indiana Jones trilogy will be released then.  There's been no word on when the Indy films could make their way onto HD-DVDs but when announcements are made, you can be sure to read about it here!

Thanks to Spielbergfilms for the news!
